The journey for me started in my first dead-end job. I could see that whether you had a good education or not, there was good money in sales, but I was telling myself that this timid, shy, introvert, could never be any good at sales. I saw sales people with a personality that I just didn’t possess… You have heard the phrase ‘he has the gift of the gab’.
What is more, sales recruiters want confident people with charisma, not someone like me. Also I couldn’t afford a sales course. At the time I thought sales courses would help me but I couldn’t afford anything, I didn’t have a mentor, I had to get on in my life, but the frustration was killing me. I didn’t know how to get out of the situation.
Then I got my first sales job, for a printing company. I was calling people and visiting others in big offices, and I was getting nowhere - nobody was interested in what I had to say let alone what I was selling.
Then one day …. I was tired, the receptionist was particularly nice to me, and I did something which changed everything. I found a way of interacting with people that seems so obvious once you know, but very hard to implement without the system in place.
She looked sad, and I asked her if I could help. My genuine concern made her relax and give me the answers I needed, plus access to her boss.
Once I found this solution I began improving what I did every day, until finally I was making a great 6-figure income… I had made it…
